Below is an amateur video tour of the now demolished Clinton Valley Center (formerly Pontiac State Hospital) in Pontiac, Michigan. I thought with all this talk about institutions, a visual aid would be helpful. Since most of these institutions are closed, much of the available footage is of their current state of disrepair. If you imagine beyond the mess, though, you can see a picture of where the developmentally disabled spent a significant portion of their lives.
There are many more of these homemade videos available for other institutions in Michigan like Northville in Wayne County and Eloise in Westland.

If they didn't tear this building down, do you think the UK show Most Haunted might come for a visit?
ReplyDeleteThere is a group in Wayne County that investigates hauntings in public buildings around Michigan. http://www.motorcityghosthunters.com/
